Assignment Overview

Climate change is a global environmental health issue affecting all countries in the world and is a result of human development and activity. It is related to the ecological footprint of the human population.

Case Assignment

In this assignment, you will:

1. Take the “What is your ecological footprint?” (Global Footprint Network, 2019) at https://www.footprintcalculator.org/ and assess how you did in the quiz.

a. Summarize how you did.

b. Which questions in the quiz had answers that surprised you?

c. Which questions in the quiz did you answer well?

2. Utilizing the required module readings and conducting additional scholarly literature searches, explain how human activities contribute to problems associated with climate change.

3. Describe ways by which individuals can help fight climate change.

4. Compare the impact of climate change on developed vs. developing countries.

PART 2

In this SLP, you will be a health and safety manager in a company that has a manufacturing facility with multiple occupational hazards. This setting could be a place where you currently work, one that you may be familiar with, or one that you just find interesting.

The objective of this SLP is to describe the setting in which the SLPs of modules 2 through 4 will take place:

1. Describe the occupational setting, the number of employees, the workers’ demographics (age, gender, ethnicity) and the industrial or manufacturing processes that take place.

2. Describe one other member of the health and safety team that may be in the facility (examples are an occupational nurse, a health and safety officer, a team made of employees) and the role it plays in this facility.
