In the article, Beyond xMOOCs in healthcare education: study of the feasibility in
integrating virtual patient systems and MOOC platforms by Natalia Stathakarou, Nabil Zary,
and Andrzej A. Kononowicz , it talks about the used of digital devices and technologies to
improve education for students. There has been tests done resulting in great outcomes, with
exceptional flexibility for everyone going at their own pace. The article mention about
students experiences through online schooling, medical students, and job training. The
problem with using digital devices and technology is that it will require self learning with
little interaction which can lead to undeveloped leadership skills, communication skills and
team skills. It first started with prototyping a program for elementary schools to see if it
would increase kids’ learning. The prototype lead to good outcomes as well as new
improvement on the devices.
My question is, with new technology improving everyday and online schooling becoming
more popular, how would in-person teaching benefit or lose from this new trend in the
future?
