Using the assignment template, construct an evidence synthesis table that presents a overview of the results from your searches related to your clinical topic. A minimum 8- 10 RECENT research articles are to be included in the table. After critically evaluating your search results, each article included in the table should represent a high relevance and utility to your original PICOT clinical question. Research should be no older than 10 years. That said, certain topics warrant obtaining the most recent, current research on the subject (ex. antibiotics). However, there are some key publications that serve to define a topic and may be justified for the current context. A rationale for each article will serve as the basis for your summary paper. Evidence tables are an effective means to present a concise summary of a focused search results. They serve as a comparative snapshot of the current research literature on a given topic and are frequently used to present intervention proposals. Caveats
1) Include studies that you know answer your question after you have done rapid critical appraisal (i.e., the keeper studies)
2) Use abbreviations & create a legend for readers & yourself
3) Keep your descriptions brief – there should be NO complete sentences
4) This evaluation is for the purpose of knowing your studies to synthesize (See page 183 sample in your text)
